Jurassic World Dominating Again: While the new film “Lightyear” didn’t quite make it to infinity or beyond, “Jurassic World Dominion” once again marched to the top on North American movie screens this weekend.

The sixth instalment of the “Jurassic Park” franchise from Universal attracted an estimated $58.7 million (P3.19 billion) from Friday through Sunday, according to industry observer Exhibitor Relations. Starring in it are Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Chris Pratt.

The most recent animated computer “Toy Story” franchise film by Pixar along with Disney, “Lightyear,” earned 51% millions (P2.77 billion).

Buzz Lightyear, played by Chris Evans, faces the evil Emperor Zurg while attempting to navigate his way home from a hazardous planet. According to a source close to Disney, “Lightyear,” which includes a same-sex kiss, has been banned from being released in more than a dozen largely Muslim nations.

With a $44 million (P2.39 billion) gross, which ‘Variety’ called “mammoth” for a movie in its fourth week, Paramount’s “Top Gun: Maverick” continued to soar in third place.

The action-adventure follow-up to the original 1986 film has become the biggest hit of Tom Cruise’s not-too-shabby career with total earnings of $466 million (P25.3 billion) domestically and $419 million (P22.7 billion) internationally.

Disney’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” which earned $4.2 million, took fourth place (P228 million). The Benedict Cumberbatch sci-fi movie has now made just over $400 million domestically (P21.7 billion).

The fifth spot is “The Bob’s Burgers Movie” from the 20th Century. Based on the popular television show, it earned $1.1 million (P59.7 million).
