Kentucky's Noah Thompson 'living the dream' after American Idol win

On Wednesday morning, it was announced that Noah Thompson, a Louisa native, will be performing at the Black Gold Festival at Hazard on Saturday September 17th at 8:00 pm.

The father of a young son and former worker in construction entered the contest without expecting a gold ticket. He returned home to Louisa, Kentucky as a celebrity.

"Seeing these little children look up to me the same way they do back at home. They listen to my song. It allows  people to dream, so that's what I like," Thompson stated.

His first hit, One Day Tonight, reached the top of country music charts in just days.

Thompson was surprised by the song's popularity, but he claims he fell in love immediately. He hopes that it will be the first of many songs in his career.

"Hopefully, I will get back to Nashville and start writing songs and getting an album out.

Thompson stated, "That's what's fun, go on tour. That's what I find exciting."

He's still keeping his roots close to home while pursuing the dream.
