Tim Sale, the popular comic artist behind Batman: The Long Halloween passed away at the age of 66.

Tim Sale was admitted to a hospital from the past few days, where he passed away on Thursday.

The exact reason behind his demise is not known yet.

DC Comics’ official twitter account paid tribute to the artist by talking about his ‘groundbreaking pag designs,’ and how they changed the way people think about comics.

Furthemore describing him as an incredible artist whose take on the iconic character had real human depth, which along with his groundbreaking designs changed the way an entire generation thinks about comic book storytelling

They paid their condolences to the artists and stated that he will be deeply missed.

 A statement was also issued by Comic publisher and chief creative officer Jim Lee who called Tim Sale an ‘extraordinary’ artist.

 He further went on to say that the entire DC family was heartbroken at the news of Tim Sale passing away.

 He further praised Tim Sale’s mastery at storytelling and panel layouts and use of lighting and shadows which infused his work with foreboding gravitas and dramatic noir sensibilities.
