Kim Kardashian was ‘Irresponsible’ Collector Says
The gown in question was worn by Monroe during her famous 1964 performance of Happy Birthday to US President John F. Kennedy.
Mr. Scott Fortner called it “publicity” and that more should have been done to protect the “cultural icon.”
He however proclaimed that he had no intention for any outrage to be directed at Kim Kardashian.
He further proclaims the dress to be a cultural icon, a political icon, a hollywood icon and that it was irresponsible.
Furthemore he propounds that “it’s a part of American history from an event that happened 60 years ago and…it should have been archived and preserved and taken care of.”
The skin-tight dress is adorned with 6,000 crystals and was hand-sewn by costume designer Jean Louis.
He also called it the “most famous dress in the world.”
Mr. Fortner added that a lot of people are coming down hard on Kim and that was not his attempt.
His ultimate decision was that the gown was “irreparable” as it was no longer possible to purchase the fabric it was made from.
The dress originally cost $12,000 and the Monroe had to be sewn into it.
